Eheim 2213
AquaClear 500

the AC500 would be about RM 150 while the Eheim 2213 would be about RM 260.

i am looking for a product that can handle 23 gal to 67 gal tank.

which one should i go for?
which would be better, based on price/performance?
which would be easier to maintain?
which is more problem-free?
and will they work with sand as gravel?

and here's some other range available for me......

Hello,

I have an Eheim 2213 and I think it does a great job. I'm not exactly sure what the AC 500 goes for retail, but I purchased my Eheim for $99.00 I think the AC 500 may be a little less expensive but I'm not sure. The Eheim 2213 is rated to 60 US gallons but I use mine on a 70 gallon tank and it does a great job, I also have a Emperor 400 HOB filter. I would recommend the Eheim personally. I'm not sure which is more problem free I have had 2 Eheim 2213's with no trouble at all, one has run for over 2 years. The Eheim is easy to maintain and it will work with sand as your substrate. If you are going to have Africans it wouldn't hurt to have both IMO, I tend to like as much filtration as possible though. Good luck.

Hi gold fries,

I'm using a 2213 for my 25 gal fry tank; it's doing a great job for the past 4 years.
The 120 gal Malawi tank is filtered by a 2217 and a 2328, both are also excellent.
But the Eheim 2328 will cost you an arm and a leg. (Approx. $180)
I think the rule of thumb some hobbyists handle is a circulation of at least 2x the tank volume p/h. If you apply that same rule, I think you can’t go wrong. However, it all depends on how many and what kind of fish you planed to stock in your tanks. It goes without saying; the more/bigger the fish, the more filtration you need. In a heavy stocked tank you may need a filter, which is capable of circulating your tank 3, 4 or even 5 times p/h.
I don't have any experience with an AC 500, sorry.
Someone else has to give you his opinion about that one.

eya ehiem are probably the most expensive of all canisters, but the other side of the argument with them is that they are probably the best!
