It's so true, one mans trash is another mans treasure!! This buy reminds me of the old joke, wherein the cheating husband sends the wife a message and says, have left you for my secretary, please sell the porsche for what you can get and send me the $. She sells it for $25.00. HaHaHa
OK, thanks. That saves a lot of work and time. So right now I am soaking the black hood in plain vinegar which is what I read will remove all the crap off of it. Then I plan on scrubbing the tank interior with plain water and uniodized salt. Then I'll finish cleaning with a razor blade on any stubborn gunky spots. And I haven't even looked at any of the equipment yet. So much to sort out! I assume I can find an online guide for setting up the filter etc...
Thats cute SamsMom. My favourite is the man who tells his wife that when he dies he wants to take all of his money with him. So he dies and a friend says to the wife, so did you honour his dying wish? And the wife says, I sure did. There is a cheque in his left pocket for everything in his account. If he can cash it, he can spend it. lol. I've got to get back to scrubbing.
Just make sure to stay away from the silicone when scrapping (of course you already knew that one...)
and great steal too...cant wait for the final results...
and another joke..Ollie and Lena..
The judge had just awarded a divorce to Lena, who had charged non-support. He said to Ole, "I have decided to give your wife $400 a month for support." "Vell, dat's fine, Judge," said Ole. "And vunce in a while I'll try to chip in a few bucks myself."
Thats cute! The tank actually wasn't very dirty at all and is in excellent condition. The previous owner included tons of wonderful mysterious-to-me stuff and I just used one of his scraper pads with a bucket of water which I conditioned with Prime and gave it a clean up. All the gravel was in the bottom, all still wet and the Fluval was wet too so hopefully the bacteria is still there. Then I went to fill it with the 50' Python that was also included at drat, if the end of my laundry sink tap didn't fit right for the Python connection. So I hauled buckets and today I went to the hardware store for a coupler. Right now its filled and just the Fluval 404 is running. I'm not sure how to hook up the powerhead so I've left that off for now. Lucky for me, the seller forgot to bring the light canopy and has offered to come back Saturday with it and help me finish setting up! The loach and gourami appear OK in my 10g but I think I might need to adopt them out. Not sure of my eventual stocking plans yet but I'm thinking of tropical community with angelfish and live plants... I was thinking I should perhaps try putting in my 3 dwarf platies and continue water testing? I don't want to take risks with my betta and the gourami and loach have already been through enough of an ordeal.
Sound good, hopefully the seller will also help you set up the filtration the rest of the way, run it for a couple of days and take your readings to see where your at........
