New tank...comments please!

I came to hate my hornwort and I threw it away. It kept shedding and clogging my filter intake.

I am noticing that the hornwort does make a bit of a mess! The plant selection around here is pretty pitiful! When I find something better I will definately replace it. I like the feathery leaves however so would like something comparable.

Marinemom, as far as cycling, I went to my LFS and talked the "expert" there; he tested my water (PH was good) & at his suggestion, I bought/added Stress Zyme to get the bacteria boosted and also bought one little ole dalmation molly (Spot), which will hopefully be enough ammonia.....I plan on doing small WC's every other day and lots of trips to the LFS to get my water tested (w/o my own kit right now). I am hoping that this will succesfully cycle the tank as I am anxious to stock it.
I would love to have a small-medium school of dwarf neon rainbows (Praecox), a small school of peppered cories (already have 2) and a pair of peacock gudgeons. I have currently a small school (6) of neon tetras (that appear to be laying eggs at this very moment!) but they may stay in the 10G, soon to be upgraded to a 20 tall and increase their school, and add the dalmation molly to the smaller tank w/ who knows what else............This is not set in stone, I do know I must have the peppered cories and Praecox but everything else is still up in the air.................

You will not need the Stress Zyme. It will do nothing for your tank. The only thing you need to add to your tank is a good declor for the water such as "Prime" . Adding products like the Stress Zyme is pretty much worthless and in some cases makes matters worse instead of better. Sorry. For a 90 gallon tank only one small molly will not provide enough ammonia to even get the cycle started. If you are intent on doing a fishie cycle then you will need more fish and then you will have to test the water all of the time and do a lot of water changes to keep any ammonia or nitrite that develops under .25. In my opinion, it would be better to either return the molly or put it in one of your cycled tanks, and start a fishless cycle. I know it is boring but it is more humaine for the fish and less work for you. If there are no fish in the tank during a cycle then you will not have to do as many water changes and will not have to worry about the fish living in the water with the toxic substances produced until the tank cycles. With a fishless cycle, you can add either pure ammonia, or you can put a raw shrimp in an unused ladies stocking and let it rot in the tank. Doing the cycle this way is a lot easier. You can use the time you are waiting for the tank to cycle deciding what fish you want to keep. If you are going to use live plants, that is even better since it will help your cycle along. You can also work on the aquascaping so when the fish do go in, you will have the perfect looking tank fo rthe perfect fish you want to keep.

Just some thoughts.

Makes sense....It is a 30 gallon but the one molly still isn't enough ammonia. I think I will move him to my other tank and go buy "a" shrimp. Thanks for the advice!

Nice, Im going to my tank today. It comes with a metal stand but im looking into purchasing a wooden one. I would hate to have all those wires on the floor.

I have question, ill make a post later when i do get my tank but i was wondering would i be able to get any 55 gallon stand for my tank ? which is 55 gallons lol.

OK, so I have rehomed the molly and what is left of her babies; put established filter media in the new tank; will check params and get ready to stock! I have 6 neon tetras, would like to increase to at least 9; have 2 pepper cories, would like to add 1 or 2 more; and ultimately will add approx 9 dwarf neon rainbows (Praecox), 3 males 6 females. Does anyone see issues with my stocking plans? Is it over stocked? (my filter is rated for up to 50 Gallons) Would LOVE a pair of peacock gudgeons but not sure if I have the room.....Any thoughts or suggestions?
By the way, I ripped out the hornwort...what a messy plant!! Will try to find some anacharis (hopefully to float and plant) and a nice piece of driftwood for a java fern........

Edit: I would also like to add a handful of RC shrimp......
