Well, the 46 gallon bowfront is not even close to capacity yet but I got what I think is a great deal on a new tank.:headbang2:

It is 72"x18"x21" (120 gallon if my math is correct?) with each back corner having an overflow, don't know the make, but it is just the tank on a wooden stand with three doors. For $200

The fish tank was used in the hotel where I work and only housed a few fish and alot of fake coral and rocks.

It is the tank, stand and a sump (looks pretty small), only a little bigger the the one I run in my 46 bowfront. Nothing else.

Now my 46 bow front has only been up for a few months and the big tank will not be runnig for at least 1 year, I will keep the 46 for a coral and make the big tank FOWLR.

What I need from everyone is help on (1)cleaning and conditioning the tank. It has been in storage and empty for at least one year and (2) recommendations for rest of my setup for FOWLR.

I plan to slowly(over the next year) purchase bumps, filters, power heads etc... as cheaply as possible. Either used (ebay classified ads) or on sale locally.

Thanks for all of your help!

Might want to get a copper test. If it was used in a hotel, they might have wanted a way to control algae and used copper. If it does test positive for copper, resealing a tank isn't too bad..just really smells.

I agree with the white vinegar solution. I've just cleaned up my old 60 gal tank using just that and elbow grease and I've even managed to get all the coraline of the glass as well. It's come up looking like new!!

When using the white vinegar solution, what is the ratio to water when you mix it up? Does it make a difference?

I'm sure there probably is a ratio but I just chucked it in and mixed. I even used it neat on the tougher bits. I regularly wash all my powerheads etc with it as well and never had a problem. The main thing is to rinse it well.
