I have been taking my time getting all the parts to the soon to be SW tank.
It will start out as a FOWLR (after it cycles) with the intent to make it a reef tank.
100 gallon with 20 gallon refugium.
after I spent months getting the parts..it was finally time to set up the new tank..it had been drilled for overflow(1 1/2") and return(1").,.it is plumbed with PVC external..
Finally after fitting the tank it was time for the dry run running submersible quiet 6000) with skimmer.
I began filling the tank..so far so good..it's filled..no leaks detected.I started up the pumps running for a couple minutes..then the muffled splash of a drip of water..I found the drip and began checking the plumbing..no leaks(I apprenticed under my dad who was a plumber) ..I traced the dripping..it appears to be leaking from the plumbing..but on further inspection it was coming from the corner where the stand and tank were exposed..I quickly drained the tank(well as quick as you can drain a 110). as it was draining I found what appeared to be spots in the silicone where the seal was not formed correctly..
it took two tries at stripping the leaky area and resealing, filling..detecting new areas of leaks..and resealing but it looks good tonight.(crossing fingers and toes) so far 2 hrs no leaks..

if it works..it's drain refill with ro water then setting the salinity..

what a pain in the neck.. was it a brand new tank??

i know a lot of places here (australia) give you a 12 month warranty on leaks with new tanks..

wow. as germanman said, that defiantly shouldnt have happened and you could probably trade it or get another one form the manufacturer if it really was a problem with the silicone and it just wasnt cut or anything.
but probalby not now if youve siliconed it yourself.
at least you knew what you were doing though.
could you imagine the outcome if you didnt?

near as I can tell the glass is fine.
it was a silicone bead that was not properly installed.I was able to remove the bead in question and re-seal the tank.
it is up and running now with no leaks(knock on wood)'
I did contact AllGlass and asked for guidance.

I do not have the option of going back to the LFS where I purchased the tank. I was mistreated at the time of the purchase. at one point I asked for my money back(I had given them a $1000 deposit for the tank with the stand and canopy.plus some stuff to get it set up. most of the stuff they had tried to use in the set up was wrong..I wanted a refugium. they tried to tell me to convert the sump into one(the set up was wrong for the sump to use for a refugium (fuge).

to this day I have not heard back ffrom allgass..I am a bit disappointed with them as I have 7 other tanks..4 are allglass.

I do believe this was a mfg mistake but was not trying to get anything from them ohter than a direction to go..I asked them if they ccould sell me some silicone as I could seal it myself.
it is up and running(test) after this passes I will begin setting it up for SW.

thanks.
