i had generic white gravel in the take before. it was becoming over grown with the ludwigaa repens

i changed it with a bag of Tahitian Moon Sand. i love the look. i only have the dwarf sage, java moss on the driftwood, and java fern on the wood. i also planted a few small trimmings of java fern right beside the driftwood on the right hand side. for some reason some of the dwarf sage and moss isn't doing too hot. i've been dosing only a small amount of excel since i lost 2 cories recently to what i believe was over dosing. im also running 2 10watt CF lights. its the same piece of wood, just flipped upside down

Very nice!

i got that same sand in my shrimp tank and it looks awesome with my red cherries

Nice beta........:)

Did you notice much more color in your betta since you switched? I noticed that when I had white sand in my 29 my convicts colors were becoming bleached out.

i havnt noticed much, i just changed it last tuesday night. i see more of a change in my ottos though, they have become a bit darker. the bette looks the same so far.

Yea because I also later put a wild 1" pbass in that tank
and it was in there for about a week and I then caught a few more 1" pbass and the difference in color was amazing, the pbass who had been over the white sand had very faint stripes compared to the new ones.

Black substrate is the best for a tank IMHO. The colour really allows your plants, fish and decor to pop!
