new tank setup, please review?

how do you figure... im following minimum tank size guidelines... i have 4 fish tanks im not a noob... everything from a 75 oscar tank to a 40 gallon salt water FOWLR tank. have an open mind, both the eel and the butterfly are pretty much stationary fish that dont move much. id never cram a 6" cichlid in there, but a 6" eel that lives under a piece of wood is another story. have you ever had an african butterfly? because i have.

or i could just follow your noob innch per gallon rule and put 2 10" oscars in there.

I don't like that there are mixed results for maximum size. The scientific name for the eel is macrognathus siamensis which basically grows anywhere from 6 inches to 14 inches.

alot of what i read they only reach about 7" in captivity... the bigger sizes are wild specimines

who said anything about one inch per gallon rule? the african butterfly fish is probably ok but an eel doesnt just sit under a piece of driftwood all day.

A 7" peacock eel is a stunted peacock eel if it's in a 20 gallon. Wild caught or captive. You need to ditch the eel. I understand wanting one, but you just can't have those fish together in a 20 gallon tank. I know that's the stated minimum for all those fish, but I've talked to people with peacock eels... Both wild and captive. They all started off with them in a 20 gallon, and all wound up upgrading to a 100-150 gallon because the fish got huge in a short period of time. I promise you... 7" is bare minimum STUNTED.
