I just started a new cichlid tank...at this moment I have a 45 gallon "L" shaped tank with 4 gorgeous electric yellow cichlids.
I want to post pictures of the fish and my tank but I can't figure out how. I've searched and can't find the answer...any help?

Sure.
I use imageshack to host a picture. You just download it onto their website as if you were attaching it to an email. (click on "choose file", select the picture from the location on your computer, then click "host it.") Then they will give you various links to use. I recommend either the "thumbnail for forums," or the "direct link to image," depending on the size of the image.
To post it, you can either use the quick reply button and click on "go advanced" or from a new thread. Click on the little box with the picture of the mountains and sun, insert the web address for the image and click "okay." Then just submit and you should have it.
Here is a thumbnail.

Thanks, here are my 4 electric yellows!

You'll see in the left side of the tank I have a big glass jug, I'm going to be removing that and loading that side up with lace rock on Monday (that's when my lfs gets another shipment in) to make lots of caves for the fish to dart in and out of. What do you think?

Sounds great! Your pictures came out great! I look forward to seeing pictures of your tank when you have your lace rock in. Make sure you post some! :) If you go to the lfs to pick up rock, are you only going to be picking up the rock? Or do you have a wandering eye? I am guilty of that myself. :dive2:

Neat tank, ive never seen one of those before. Its a good choice for mbuna though, with that corner they wont be able to see fish on the far side of the tank which is perfect for aggression. :)

Your yellow labs look pretty good, except one looks like its a hybrid - they are commonly called 'yellow yellows' and are mixed with zebras.

What you called an electric blue ahli does not really look like one... the face is similar but the markings look a little off... could be a copadichromis species This is what an 'electric blue' is supposed to look like (Sciaenochromis ahli's are pretty rare and what usually are called ahli's are really fryeri's).

Although the markings look a little similar to the ahli... but they are more rare so it would be odd for you to have one.
I'll try to get some help on the ID, but you may have to wait until it colors up more to get a more positive ID.

There are a coupld Peacocks (Aulonocara) that are called swallowtail:

Your tank is looking good and i'm sure they will love the lace rock when it comes in!

Watch what your feeding these fish as the two new ones you have are haplochromis and the yellow labs are mbuna, both of which require very different diets. Generally mbuna are vegetarian and haps can handle more protien, but in order to avoid 'malawi bloat' i highly reccommend you feed them lots of vegetable matter such as spiraluna and get a high quality cichlid flake or pellet such as NLS.

I'm prettty sure that "Electric blue" as I call it is the ahli, the markings on it, especially the faded stripes are evident if you get a good look. I don't know too much about cichlids but there is only one person that I will talk to at my lfs because he isn't just some guy that is working there part time, he actually knows his stuff. He told me that there are two types of Electric blue cichlids, the ahli and another type that I can't remember. I want a more laid back Cichlid tank and he said that the one I didn't get, the more common one, is a pain in the arse to other fish. I dunno, if it doesn't turn out to be then oh well I'm sure it will look cool. Thanks for the input everybody! When it comes to the food issue, is this going to be a problem? I am feeding them the plain old flakes, is that going to be okay for some but not for others or is there just one food that would be good for all of them.

One more question, when I buy this lace rock on Monday I'm gonna have to wash it off. How should I do this, would a quick run under warm water do it or should I soak it or something?

THANKS! :D
