55 gal tk w/ live rock live sand protein skimmer & 401 fluval canister filter, only 80 watt lighting. I've had the marine tk running for about 3 mos. w/ three fish 2 bicolor damsels & 1 green chromis, lots of turbo snails & blue legged hermit crabs. there is a 2 in diameter maroon patch on the live sand that seems to intensify w/ light. Also wed like sticky tenticles that come from the live rock. Any idea??

Not sure what you have exactly. The maroon patch sounds like slime algea. But never heard of it having tentacles. Maybe you've got some type of hitch hiker coral or something with your live rock. There's a good site about hitch hikers on live rock. You may try and look here for what you have.

Hitch Hiker F.A.Q.

The red patch sounds like cyanobacteria (red slime algae), the tentacles are probably terebellid worms. Terebellids are on the FAQ, although the picture isn't very good.
