I am looking to get a 29 gallon tank. I would like to if i can get this tank, to breed mollies and swordtails. I have to look into this but i would like to sell them back to my lfs. If i am able to obtain this tank how many fish would you say? this is my theoretical tank set up right now:

6 female mollies
2 male mollies
6 female swordtails
2 male swordtails
4 corydoras (pandas)
2 oto's

do you think this is a good idea?

I would have a spare 10 gallon if this happens, which i would use as a fry growout. If i kept snails in the tank when i do not have fry in it, will they upkeep the cycle? Also would the snails bother the fish?

I also have 2, 1 gallons to serve as qt tanks.

In your opinion how does this plan sound?

it sounds good to me, I might do something like that for my 29g
I don't know if the fish will get along though

Well, it will sort of work and sort of not from my 2 years of breeding swords. First off just about anywhere you get your livebearers the females will already be pregnant, and because of this they will probably throw fry in whatever tank you put them in for the next couple of months. However, in a 29 eventually they will stop getting gravid even with a male in there. Yet when I moved the swords to a 55 they began to get gravid again. So my suggestion to you is; breed them in a 55 and once they are gravid put them in a 10 to throw. Then use the 29 as your grow out tank. You might be able to get away with the 29 but I was not able to. By the way make sure you have a fish store to give these to or another plan because you will quickly have many fish on your hands.
