New Tank, What Fish?

I just recieved a three gallon aquarium from an old friend and I was wondering if I could put a small cichlid in there or would it be better to do something like endlers livebearers or guppys. Does anyone have some advise for me?

cichlids is a definite no no. in a 3G, 2 or 3 endler's livebearers would do pretty good or a single betta and some shrimps.

Cichlids truly are wonderful, most of my fish are cichlids, but they really need more than 3 gallons--that's a very limited space.

A group of shrimp would look nice. Maybe a snail too...!
