If thats not true, and by set up you meaning completed cycle and such then it looks good.

im not an expert on cycling, however, i did run my old filter on it for a few days first and i did not wash anything... the plants from my old tank or gravel. i did know the risks i took step by step and did my best to weigh them out and take the best steps i could to ensure the most safety i possibly could. everyone is doing great.

as for the coment about the rock, ill be the first to admitt i can be ignorant to some things... does anyone else see this as a potential problem?

live plants... *sigh* that would be really great, but im just afraid that with 4 eels, 9 loaches and 4 banjo cats they would be constantly uprooted as well as being chewed down to stumps by the gouramis, goldfish, angel, farlowella and barbs. at one point i wanted a sand substrate and live plants, but when it came down to it, it seemed like a disaster waiting to happen. :o

Foof, just trying to be a help here....really....and if your comfortable with that, it's your tank and your floor...but remember, that hundreds of pounds of water is sitting on that rock too.....

i understand, it makes sense, just caught me off guard. i really dont see it as a problem right now, i mean, its propped on the bottom glass just as much as it is the side... so wouldnt i have to remove it entierly to eliminate any risk? sorry for being sarcastic about it before, and thanks for the concern.

Well, not entirely. If it sits atop the substrate, the pressure of it is diffused along all the substrate. If it leans against a tank wall, you have a line of pressure in the shape of the rock directly against the glass.

I don't guarantee anything in life. It's simple physics, but it may or may not affect your tank.
 
I highly doubt it will cause any problems, glass has a very good strength to load forces, just not so good with sharp impacts. I had almost 150lbs of rock in my 75g, most of it was stacked that all the weight was on bottom set of rocks and glass and I never once had a problem. now if the rocks would have fallen it would have more than likely cracked the glass. You'd be surprised at how much weight glass can actually support.

Even now I have about 40lbs of holy rock stacked against one wall:
