The rock is fine unless you smack it into the glass from the inside. A large tankbuster could break the glass if they hit the rock real hard.

Hey Foof, thanks for sharing....don't let people get you down. You could have taken all the fish back to the pet store once they got too big like a lot of people do, but you didn't - you bought them a bigger home - good for you. I just recently moved my 55 gallon tank enhabitants over to my new 125 last Wednesday (3 days ago). Oh my God, what a PITA. I ran it over in my head for days before doing it and it was still an awful experience. But, so far so good. No amonia and no deaths. The fish are just now starting to get used to their new environment and resume their old habits. I was worried about the fish I have and desturbing my cycle, I sure you were s****** bricks with all those. Anyway, thanks again for sharing.

PS - I saw your earlier post when you just got the tank home from the pet store. It's nice to be excited about something. I've enjoyed setting my new tank up as well.

PSS - I found a textured black backround that was 30" high and bought 8 ft for a 6 ft tank. Then I taped it on both sides and pushed and pulled the center as I taped the top and bottom. It looks pretty cool - deeper in some areas with cracks and crevices. Gives the allusion of a deeper tank.

Looks good but you might want to rethink the tinfoils, they will start to predate on your smaller fish(if they have not already)not to mention they get massive.

I know many people that would take the contents of one tank and add them including tank decor, fish, gravel, and water directly over to another. Honestly if I were to decide to do a large barb tank I would prob just do the same with mine depending upon the circumstances most of the good stuff is in the gravel and not on your filter though the stuff on the filter should be enough for a lightly stocked tank.

No I think you're a little off, the filter media do contain the vast majority of the nitrifying bacteria, being that there is such a steady flow of water through it. Though I'm sure anywhere that gets decent waterflow has smaller amounts of bacteria...just nowhere near as many.

i know tinfoils quite well, my father had a pair for 21 years.
at this point the only fish they eat are feeder guppies, they show no interest in fancy guppies or small catfish. they ate 1 extremely small skunk botia.
but they really dont eat anything unless it twitches. ive had tiny fish swim right past them and they dont pay it any mind unless the smaller fish jerks quickly.
anyways, i know them rather well... theyre a risk im willing to take. and they wont outgrow a 130 gallon.

thanks to all for the comments, just wanted to revisit the thread and say everything is going great.

im finishing off the livestock in a few days when my 2 african butteflys and 2 butterfly loaches get here from ****************, then im adding a trio of cave tetras (if my LFS ever gets them in for me) and that will complete my tank. the black backdrop should be here in 1-2 more days as well, then its just a matter of trying to find some aquarium safe plants with wire frame to wrap around a few cords/cables, then building a tad bit more cave structure and i should be set.

ill post a few pictures in a new thread as soon as i fele like everything is done.
