new tank

I started out with a ten gallon tank with rainbow gravel ,fake driftwood and silk plants. soon i am going to get a fifty gallon acrilic tank and want to get more advanced (real plants, real wood). Would the plants and wood efect any thing, or should i stick with the fake plants etc.

on another subject, what is the difference in acrilic and glass tanks, is one better than the other?

Im not an expert or anything but if you want live plants you need to get a co2 injector and some sort of fertilizer, they might be the same thing i dont know much about plants. The driftwood could lower the pH level and some driftwood discolors the water, yet again, ive never used driftwood so the is just what i heard not an experience. Glass, heavy and less expensive. Acrylic, light and more expensive. Is one better then the other? Its an opinion but other people can share that with you because ive only used glass. im not disapointed with it.

Some other people with more knowledge should answer some of these questions also becasue i am sure i left out a lot of important details.

I have several small acrylic tanks..yes they are lighter, better optically, better insulators ( a mixed blessing), BUT they scratch very easily and this is, IMO, a major problem. There are scratch removal kits but are not easy to use. If you are obsessive as most fishkeepers are, would recommend against acrylic for this reason alone ( and maybe the expense).

Look into low tech/low light tanks.
There are lots of great plants that do not require a CO2 set-up or high intensity lighting. It may be an option for you if CO2 has to wait.
