New tank

Yes, you watch, and point out the one you want. Also, be very very sure (which can only happen after you do your research) that the one(s) you point out are really what you think they are. I went to a well reputed LFS here, and they had a tank of "rasbora hetermorpha" that was labeled that way, and the employee said were a newly received batch. I asked if he was sure that was what they were, and he assured me that's what they were. Well, since that meant they were charging less than I typically see trigonostigma espei typically go for locally, I jumped on the deal, since that's what those fish really were. Knowing what I wanted (the espeis) as opposed to what was labeled enabled me to spot a bargain.

And yes, I can see how a better man than I would have alerted the staff to their error, but if they don't know what they have, that's *their* lack of education. They probably got the wrong order from their supplier, and just didn't know any better.

i honestly have no idea what ur trying to say lol

He's saying to google the fish because you can't always rely on pet stores to have accurate information.

he's also encouraging you to STEAL! jk, I got an angelicus botia out of a less expensive yoyo loach tank. because google rocks!

That is the issue - a pet, be it a cat, dog or fish is not something one brings into their life as an impulse buy. Laziness and pet ownership do not mix well. Could you go back in time, the better response to the urge would have been to go home, do some research and then move forward with the purchase.
As an FYI, the "jk" mean that Glabe was Just Kidding about the stealing part. However, the "fault" for the wrong fish being in your tank now falls to both parties - by your own admission, you had no idea what you were buying. At the end of the day, the fish is the one that pays the price for everyone's ignorance (which is why being informed before a purchase is so important)
