"New" Tank

The other day I found a 55 Gal. sitting by someone's curb. I brought it home and cleaned it up and filled it gradually over a 3 day period. No Leaks!!! I'm a happy camper!!
BUT......I'm wondering if I can trust it. The only thing I've found wrong is the plastic support across the top, middle is cracked. I can re-inforce that easily(the glass bows when it's full). It's an All Glass tank, made in 1988, but all the sealant is soft and pliable, just like any new tank I 've seen in stores. SOOOOOO.....what's the consensus? Should I re-seal it or trust it?

Personaly I reseal almost every tank I get used over 5-8yrs old I figure why not.As for the brace I'm a guy who wont spend a dime on anything but you do want to buy a new top rim directly from allglass cant remember the # but you can it on find their web site for it.
 
Somefinnfishy, when you reseal your tanks do you take all the old silicone out, like with a razor blade, or do you reseal right over the old stuff?
BTW, I contacted All Glass....we'll see what happens with the rim.

probably an "inspected by:" sticker on the bottom with the date on it.
 
or a "built by;" sticker...just a guess....dunno
 
Into the early 90's All Glass put a sticker on the bottom of every tank over 20 gals. that had the date of manufacture on it. This one was made on Sept. 20, 1988.
Somebody give me some feed back on whether to re-seal or leave it alone. It's been almost full for 3 days and hasn't lost a drop. And if I should re-seal, some thoughts on whether or not to cut out all the old sealant or just re-seal on top of it.
