"New" Tank

it sounds water-proof, but it may be worth re-sealing just to be cautious. if you were to re-seal it, then i would remove the old sealing, and at the end i think through all the hassle i would probably go buy a new tank....
 
Just because it's waterproof doesn't mean it's sturdy. That's a bracing bar and is there to provide extra support. Get a new brace, if you can, but if you can't you should find some way to reinforce that bracing. It will hold water for who knows how long without the bracing intact, but it will not be as strong and may give way any time.

You don't see these bars with smaller tanks because the strength of the glass together with the sealer is plenty of support. 55 gallons of water is a lot more pressure...
