Today i added a bristle star and a large feather duster. part of the bristle starts leg came off, he is doing fine, but the leg looks like it is moving around, only about1/2 an inch came off. Should i put this bit in the tank?

no toss it out it will grow back.

after doing further research on the bristle starfish it seems that if there is not enough food in the tank they may eat fish. I definatly dont want that to happen. Either then taking the starfish out is there any way to keep this guy fed so he does not eat my fish?

he is in the rocks now, i will post a pic if he emerges. Haven't seen him much since i put him in. It looks like a Ophiothrix purpurea.

oh i have a green and tan one they are usually fine if feed ok. i just got mine i have now last week...but my black one i had before was good and reef safe for over a year...then just vanished in a rock slide...

cool pics. yea those stars are usually harmless as long as they dont starve.

thanks man, is there a certain way to make sure they are fed? eg feed the fish a lot?

u can give em krill or bottom feeder pelits...they will show up a lot during feeding during the day if they are hungry.
