I am getting a 400l aqua h20 tank with 150l sump filter. Can I keep the following fish:lionfish, redtooth trigger, picasso trigger, dogface puffer, porcupine puffer and what else would you suggest in this fish only setup with live rock.
i have no experiance of tanks that size but with the fish you want (large) it may be an idea to provide more swimming space and settle for a smaller sump.
I am getting the sump built in underneath the tank and therefore will have more space.Has anyone got this type of setup or is this a bad idea?I think 400 liter is about 90-100g.
I am getting my tank this weekend and will put some pics up as soon as it has settled and I have started adding fish. The LFS said I can put trigger and lionfish together as the trigger won't eat the lion because it is poisonous. Can this be true-Is my tank to small for these kinds of fish.
Dont trust what most LFS say, as they are only trying to sell the fish as quickly as possible in most cases.
Lionfish are only venemous on the top spines, so a Trigger will shred its long pectorial fins, and lionfish are ambush preditors so are not real aggressive.
I have already paid for a redtooth trigger and a picasso trigger which I am keeping at LFS .What would you guys suggest I get with them-Would a Snowflake eel work? What else is nice? and would the puffers be ok?
IMO you are going to have more trouble with the two type of triggers together and the two types of puffers, than of the trigger and the puffer. I have had triggers and lions together with no problem, but it also depends on the personalities of the individual fishes.
Thanks a lot for all the advice and the weblinks.I am still not sure what to do.The main reason for getting my marine tank was a Dogface Puffer which I think is one of the fish with the most attitude.I keep fw fish as well and have Oscars so I like fish with character.Maybe i should just get one puffer one trigger and take it from there but I heard that if you add stuff later they are more territorial to the new fish.Is my tank size ok for these kind of fish.
