So, I upgraded some fish yesterday. I took back my Red and Black Phantom Tetras I had 8 and 6 respectively. They were the first fish I put in my tank. But after doing some research I decided to "upgrade". So, returned them to the fish store yesterday.

I decided to go with 5 Diamond Tetras and 8 Rummynose Tetras instead. I couldn't be happier, they are awesome fish. They are all very active and they get along great with my Columbian Tetras. Plus, they are already schooling together. The Phantoms didn't school at all, they were just all over the place, kind of made the tank look cluttered in a way.

I must say that I'm very impressed with the progress I've made with this tank. I never thought, I would ever get this involved. Now my friends are in awe of my tank.

I'll post some pics this week maybe.

What size tank do you have them in? Schooling looks great in large tanks!

I've got a 72g Bow-front tank. It's nice because its not too wide, so it's about 20" tall and 48" wide. So plenty of swimming room.

I've got them in there now with 6 Columbian Tetras, 14 Cardinal Tetras and 4 Indian Flasher Barbs (Puntius denisonii). The Flasher Barbs, are the "show fish" but the rest compliment the whole setup.

I've got about 15 species of plants, an Anchor and some nice brown erroded rock aswell.

I'll take some pics, it's too hard to explain.

my phantoms don't really school either, i think its a combination of the bright lighting and 2 bully males. they are beautiful fish but if given the option to exchange them with another species of tetras, i would..

I understand completely, I had a couple males that seemed to be an issue aswell. The other species of fish were not bothering the rest of the Phantoms at all. But they males always chased the others and nipped their fins. I also had a couple Black Phantoms that would not come out from hiding. They were only in one little spot behind a certain plant and I never seen them come out on their own. So, they way they didn't get much to eat either. So, they stayed quite small, I even had one die on me and I bet that's why. They seemed very territorial, more so than any of my other fish.

Oh well, Live and Learn. :)

Maybe you could donate yours to a fish store if you bought something different from them. My fish guy let me return mine for a full credit, but I'm a pretty good customer, I've spent over a $1000 at his store in the last 4 months. Plus, he knows my water quality is high so he doesn't mind.
