New tiger barbs dying, anything i can do?

Hey...this link might help:

http://www.aquahobby.com/articles/e_ich.php

It's not the article I had read before, but it pretty much says the same stuff. I really recommend Quick Cure the most. Sorry I had called it Quick Fix...but I mean QuickCuire. It has worked for me MANY times in the past, and much faster than other meds. Along with the temperature.

Sorry about your fish. Hopefully he'll be the last casualty and you'll never have ick again.

Please read here regarding ich. I stand by the salt method at 2 teaspoons per g. I have cories and live plants, salt at that level didn't bother them when I had to treat for ich.

If you had the tiger barbs in your main tank, the main tank will need to be treated as well to be on the safe side. Might as well put them back in the main tank and treat it all at the same time.

Hey guys, thanks for the help. the heat thing really worked! and yes, i did wrap an actual "heat blanket" (you know, one for people) around the tank because i didnt have a heater and the next morning i had to go out-of-town. probably didnt bring the temp up as slowly as i should have (didnt read that post till after the fact) but kept it around 87 for a day or two and now keeping it around 80. Ich is all gone...for now. and i still have 3 remaining fish out of the 5 i originally bought the other week.

So I have 3 questions though:

as for the salt treatment for ich...how do you add it slowly? i read the article about mixing it in a bucket then adding that to the filter at 1/4 tbs. of salt per hour, and 1-4 tbs. salt per gallon...but that wont work for me. i have a closed lid filter and dont have 250 hours

also, what is the deal with ich, ive read ALOT of articles on it, some say it lives in the water, some say it lies dormant, some say those are just myths...
ive gotten ich every single time ive gotten new fish over the last year and a half. does this mean it came with the fish EVERY time?

also, when i came home from being out-of-town all weekend, happy to see all the fish still alive due to my blankie, i noticed this pink gunky stuff in the tank. kinda like what pink floating mold would look like. and in the filter too. what the heck is this? due to the heat? ps- dont worry i cleaned it all out right when i got back.

Thanks for any questions you are able to answer! And hopefully my remaining fish will one day shortly make it into the bigger tank =)

and no, the barbs were never in the 55 thank god!
