Howdy, my name is Paul. I love fish-keeping. I joined this site to get more information about TwoFishGuyz as I am always interested in acquiring new blue rams. I have been attempting to breed blue rams for a little while now and am currently trying to raise a batch of fry that hatched this morning. Please see my photo album for pictures and more info regarding that project. Any suggestions or comments are welcome. Also, I am always down to talk fish, so please feel free to drop me a line. Thanks!

:welcome::welcome: I bred rams a few times no trouble seemed very easy fry easy to raise also. I currently do cories not any other species but I used half flower pot with sand substrate pulled the parents and really the fry were quite viable. First foods egg yolk mashed with tank water cyclops then baby brine or decap eggs. From there it gets easier. Keep up the good work.

When I was raising rams...I had tried the egg yolk thing with the fry and what a mess ! I had to change water and clean things out after every feeding. I ended up buying a package of powdered fry food made by Hakari that I picked up at PetSmart......worked great and I could start using it as soon as they started swimming ! Just take a pinch and sprinkle it right near where the fry are hanging out. I'd put my hand right into the tank to do that and get it as close to the fry as I could.

When you do a water change, do it very slowly ! If you try to hurry it up you'll loose fry. I had a 5 gallon tank setup over the fry tank, filled with clean ready made water and a heater set to the same temp. After I syphoned out water from the fry tank I just ran some airline tubing down from the clean water tank....tied a knot in the tubing and let it slowly run into the fry tank. Just a suggestion that I thought may help.....

Have fun ! I do love those rams ! Someday I'll have to pick up another pair....I think they are my favorite freshwater fish.
