hello everyone, i put java fern in my tank about 3 weeks ago and its steadily fading and its not looking so great, so somone suggested i try fertilizers. anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?

Tell us about your tank. Light type and wattage, fish load, and any water parameters that you know, such as pH, kH etc.
Without this type of info. we are blind as to what you're dealing with.

the light type is just a fluorescent 20 watt bulb, pH is around 7, i havnt stocked the tank yet so im not 100% what the fish load is gonna be

Just confirming - It's a 29 gallon? That's really low light, then, under 1 watt per gallon. Java fern could do all right but without fish in the tank, it's not getting anything for food. Start with some Seachem Flourish (Comprehensive Plant Supplement). It would really be beneficial if you could up your lighting a bit though, even for a low light tank.

Yeah, wish I had asked for gallons in my previous post.
Almost everything in aquaria is relative to some parameter or other. That's why it's always good to include as much information as possible.
If the tank is a 29 and no fish your plant is suffering from lack of light and lack of nutrients.
