new to shrimp, new tank

hi there, I recently set up a 10 gallon tank with only 7-8 snowball shrimp I picked up at an auction. It is furnished with a marina HOB filter, 150 W spare hydor heater, black sand and a few crypts and java moss. My question is, If i introduced other cardina or neocardino shrimp colors, will they cross breed with the snowball ones? Are there any other shrimps that won't breed with the snowball shrimp they'll get along with? Thanks. PS. I do not plan on adding fish to this tank.

They will interbreed with other neocardina species. You could keep amano's, tiger, crystal reds/blk's, bumble bee's, and a few others.

TL1000RSquid has a great list. And here is our shrimp compatibility tool that shows what can be housed with the same species. Also, make sure the intake on your HOB won't suck up the shrimp or their offspring. You might need to put a pre-filter over it.

Thanks TL 1000RSquid and shrimp farm! I'm in no rush and there's a fish auction this saturday so i'll see if they have any caridina types. and I do have a presponge filter over my filter intake. Thanks for that tip! They're fun to watch!

There are also halocaridina species. I don't know if they're easy to breed, though. I doubt it since brackish water tends to give best longevity, although they're just fine in fresh or salt.

cool, i've never heard of Halo Cardina species. I've recently added some orange rabbit snails Tylomelania Poso I think they're called. will they eat shrimp babies? I noticed one of the snowball shrimp has eggs or babies in her belly

Macrobrachium kulsiense (aka Snowflake or Sand shrimp) can also be kept with them, with no risk of predation or interbreeding.
