Hey there!!

My name is Calvin, and I recently came across this forum, and I love aquariums so much I decided to join these boards as well. I have a 40-gallon community tank with assorted planted plants, a 10-gallon goldfish tank, and a 60-gallon tank that I don't know what I'm going to do with just yet!

I hope to learn a lot from you guys, and share my knowledge as well!

:welcome: to AC, Calvin!

Glad to see another enthusiast who is into goldfish. I keep goldfish myself as well. You could simply move the goldies to the 60g. Do you have photos of you goldfish? Every goldfish that you get, grow quite big and bulky at 6-18 inches depending on the strain and a 10g is quite inadequate in the long run. I prefer to use the 10g as their quarantine/hospital tank rather than a permanent housing.

For fancy goldfish such as fantails, ryukins and orandas, I aim for 10-15g per fish ut that doesn't mean a 10-15g tank is okay. There is very little space for them to swim around and these are also sociable fish as well as heavy poo machines. A small tank will easily get elevated ammonia and nitrite, both of which are toxic to all fish in high levels. This can be indicated when you see black smudges and red streaking on the fins of your fish.

My largest goldfish right now is a 7" black oranda, Summers followed by my lionhead at 6", Julian and then the 6" watonai and fantail, Felix and Alessandra respectively. This just shows how big they actually get.:D They're currently in my 75g tank and then pond. Cleaning a small tank with goldfish also entails quite tedious work which is why a 60g is a rather much better housing system than a 10g.

Hope this helps!
