My tank is a freshwater 20 gal tank. It has regular goldfish, black morres, a few guppies, shrimp, and a couple of snails oh and a pleco. I'm new to this and would gladly appreciate any advice. Thanx.

:welcome: to AquariaCentral!

First and formost, Did you cycle your tank? http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84598 (You would have to do option 3, Fishy Cycling) Without frequent water changes, your fish will either have a shortened live span or die.

Second, I'm afraid the fish you own can't live together. Goldfish live in cold water without a heater. They also need a tank much larger than you own. I suggest either re homing your goldfish or getting a larger tank for them. They really can't live with the rest of the fish. (Guppies and plecos are tropical fish and need a heater. Plus, the guppies might get eaten when your goldfish grow!)

Third, keep the guppies, snails, and shrimp in the 20 gallon. Your pleco might be able to stay in there, depending on what kind of one you have. Perhaps you could post a picture so we can identify it? Do you have a heater in this tank? If you don't you need one! :)

Good luck with your first fish! Ask plenty of questions!

Hello, I just thought i would introduce myself. I am not new to aquariums but I am new to the hobbyist side of it.

I currently have 6 Fish tanks. None of which are extremely huge.

50 gallon - Synodontis Eupterus, Dojo loach, Zig Zag Eel, 2 Gold Mystery Snails, 1 Black Snail, 2 Blue Gouramis, Striped Raphael, juvenile Pacu, Juli Corydora

5 gallon - 3 goldfish

10 gallon (breeder) - Guppies, Ramshorn snails, ghost shrimp

12 gallon - Koi and Blood Parrot, 5 Ramshorn snails

(2) 1 gallon tanks - Blue Crowntail Betta and Blue Veil Tail Betta

You're welcome! How many goldfish do you have? For 1 goldfish=20, for each additional goldfish you need to add 10 gallons. (I believe this is a general opinion.) A 29 gallon is only going to cut it for 2 goldfish.

Welcome! Thats quite the stocking list! Many of those fish are incompatible.

I don't know about the stocking with the 50 gallon, but a 5 gallon isn't going to cut it for 3 goldies. Get a 40 or more for these fish or else sell them. The 10 gallon is fine with guppies (depending on how many there are.) The 12 gallon has a blood parrot and a koi? Blood parrots need larger tank and is incompatible with the koi. Blood parrots are tropical; koi are coldwater. The koi is going to need a much larger tank too! I suggest rehoming these fish. The last tanks, have 2 bettas each in a 1 gallon...They should each have a tank that is 5 gallons or larger to themselves.

Good luck! :)
