New to the forums! Gourami Stocking Question

Do Panda cories eat algae? I've always wanted to know this
Cause their pretty small and if they it algae thats like a double positive! :)

Nope.

I see now, just have to do some more research. I like the look of Zebra Pleco!

Then be prepared to spend some money.

I think bristlenose plecs would be better suited. Cheaper and more available.

:iagree:

I've seen b/w zebras going for some big bucks on Aquabid. If you want an algae-eater, consider otocinclus. Once you've given the tank a few months to stabilize, a small group of those can be quite attractive and useful.

Otocinclus is really nice too. Not a fan of Bristlenose, nor am I hater either... just probably will get something else. Thanks for the help. Awesome amount of help here in the Newbie section!!!

Bid at $201 L046 Zebra Pleco on Aquabid, haha! Yes, I think I will be passing on that type of rare specimen. Insane price, but if he were $20-$30, then I would consider.

You should not have to add a fish to the tank to take care of algae if you balance your feedings, lighting, and maintenance correctly.

I am betting water changes weekly as opposed to the monthly that my college roommate did, would lessen the algae. I won't be running lights long hours 6-8. I think his lights ran from dawn to dusk, haha. How his tank was not covered with green algea must be his big pleco... though his water was not the clearest it could have been. He could have doubled his water changes IMHO and the tank would have been way cleaner.

I think I'll wait and see if I need/want an algae eater later and save the space. Likely, a pleco if I do.
