New to the plant world

Hello. I have a 10g tank(empty) that I am planning on having 1 dwarf gourami, 1 male platy and 2 female platies (and eventually an oto) and a 10g goldfish tank (only 1 in there) and I was wondering what plants (if at all) that I could put in there that would make the fish happy and allow them to still be visable. Help much appreciated!

do these tanks have lights ? you generally need a flueroscent light to grow plants
depending on your light(how many watts it is) you can grow a range of plants
if you only have say 10 or 15 watts(will say on the bulb) of light then you'll be restricted to low light plants

i have some anubias coffeefolia and java moss in my low light, i think they look really nice
one thing to note though, ive heard that goldfish will make salad of live plants, so i'm not sure if adding plants to its tank would be wise

yes, it has 15w....i will keep my plastic plants in with the goldfish, and put live with the platies and gourami.....any specific plants to watch out for, or are easier to care for?

ok....after looking at that site, i think i might look into:
Java Fern
Anubis afzelii
Cogensis

any advice/changes?
And, is there anything special that I have to consider when keeping plants, such as food etc...

Popular low light plants include things like anubias nana, crypt's, java fern and java moss.

You already have a link for plantgeek, www.tropica.com is also a good site for information, provided you know the plant you're looking for. And of course you can always search the forums here for more info on a particular plant.

Can you believe that for 3 months I have been waiting for my tiger lotus to sprout some leaves from its bulb in my 20 gallon tank with 3.75 watts of light, floramax substrate, fertilizer (the whole 9 yards) but it never did.

I got tired of waiting and so I decided to remove it from the 20 to my 10 gallon with a 15 watt bulb about one week ago and it's actually sprouting leaves now. Go figure. There is no special substrate, no fertilizer, no nothing but water and light and it's growing.

Unbelievable.
