I just acquired 4 new white crays. 2 Males and 2 Females from what I was told but gotta check them out to make sure. 2 of them molted on the way here. I'll take and post pictures tonight if possible.

Is there anything I should know? I haven't owned a cray (besides the babies I had that got eaten only after having them 4-5 days) since I was a kid like 20yrs ago.

Female Eating Some Java Moss

cute little buggers!

they're awesome little monsters. What do you have them in? the bigger the footprint, the better--they don't care much about height.

We started with 4 as well. 2 males we sold once they matured, and the other 2 are a breeding pair. Even with tons of hiding places, the female still gets ripped up by the male, so make sure to have loads of places, and keep the water clean to avoid infections. Ours eat just about anything, and she berries up and produces young about every other month. Leave the molts in, as they'll eat them for additional calcium. I wouldn't trust them in with any fish or other inverts--they will catch and eat anything they can.

I knew about the husks. They already ate the ones that were in there. Also I had some strands of Java Moss in there and they ate all of that too. They also ate some food I had recieved from the previous crays I had that my C. myrnae ate and well the crays went straight for it. They are currently in a 20 gallon high tank. I'm gonna keep a pair the other pair is going to my mom's tank. These are what she want. So it will be a pair in the 20 gallon and a pair in the 53 gallon that's in the front room. I'm thinking of putting some livebearers in the tank with them most likely mollies and maybe some endlers. The endlers will not be till I could get a good population going and the mollies as well.
