I have a new Yellow Rainbow and he's in a QT. After 3 days ICK was all over him and he also have this little bump or something on his mouth. I thought maybe it was just the ICK but the spots have fallen off on the rest of his body, but I'm still treating for ICK, but the spot on the mouth is still there. I've tried to look with a magnifying glass and can't quite tell but it looks like it might be a little fuzzy.

I've read about the mouth fungus and looked at picturs, it could be the beginning of that. I started him on macryn and was going to get some macryn II today. I thought before I continued with anymore treatment I should get some advice.

I should also mention one of his fin's is a little red and a little below that is a red mark. I assumed the fin area could be the ick and the mark was probably a scrape from being transported into my LFS.

I don't want to continue with the macryn if it's going to be damaging to the fish if it's not the mouth fungus. Was wondering if it would have any negative effects on the scrape also.

Sorry about the long thread, need to give alot of info.
Thanks

Can you get any pictures. It could be a number of things since the fish seems to be in bad shape. You say he has wounds everywhere it could be a wound that got infected. Could be a fungus, could be something more severe that all the symptoms point to. There are lots of good fish people on this sight. See if you can get a picture, I know rainbows are fast so good luck, use sport setting with no flash and all the room lights off except the tank.

We will try to take a picture, we've never had much luck. The wounds seem to be healing up though, I did start him on Maracyn and Maracyn II about 3 days ago based on another e-mail. His mouth looks a little better but not perfect yet. I did order some medicated food from Angel's Fish food based on another e-mail. I will still try and get a pic.
Thanks for the response.

Have not been able to get any photo's. The scrapes he had, all are gone but one are on one side and can't get him turned around long enough to snap a shot. If the wound did get infected would I use something other than the macaryn? He seems to be swimming around a bit more but he still won't eat. I've been trying frozen brine shrimp and of the course the medicated food which he didn't eat. Is there anything else I should be doing. Once all the signs that he's well...other than eating...could I put him in his the main tank and see if he will eat. Just not sure what to do next.
