If you'll check out this video you'll see some very unique freshwater tanks. There are also some saltwater ones too but the planted tank at the end with a turtle was my favorite. These are all filterless tanks, including the saltwater ones, and they have been alive for years and years. hope you enjoy this new vid it's taking off fast!

thanks for stopping by to chat!

the most helpful thing to know about making them look jungle scaped like that is not my idea and unfortunately I can't recall the website where this is posted, but it's a common terrarium supply place and amazon is in the title something like amazonterrariums or something.

what they (I) did was to take the globe tank, see naturesocean.com fantasy bowl link, and you can easily do this with a square tank too, you lay it on it's back and take a collection of rocks and driftwood and arrange it such that its piled on the back wall of the tank but since it's laying down gravity is holding it all in the pile. You run clear water tubing in this pile before inserting the glue. in the end you attach a powerhead at the bottom, cover it with a rock and have a waterfall coming out the top of the display wall flowing down however you carved the river in the glue foam coming up.

the glue is triple expanding foam from home depot! shoot it in the pile, watch out for 7x expansion, and when it's dry tomorrow carve all the mess away with a dremel. None of this is water soluble so you can either make it a bog tank or a full aquatic, won't matter. if it's going to be aquatic run airlines instead of water tubing.

to cover the foam with natural dirt take your substrate of choice and dump it over the yellow glue parts that you have already smeared with silicone meant for aquariums. when that dries you will have a natural life wall all very cheap and a thousand times more realistic than the 120 dollar inserts.
