I've been reading these forums for about two weeks now and I finally decided to sign up so I can start posting. Today also happens to be the day I went out and bought my very first batch of LR for my new marine setup.
I guess I've been facinated with coral reefs and marine fish since I was a kid and went snorkelling/diving on nature's biggest playground, the Great Barrier Reef. If you guys ever come down under (Australia for those who haven't seen Crocodile Dundee - and yes we do all ride kangaroos to school/work
) you'll have to visit the GBR.. it's amazing.
I've previously kept freshwater fish as I knew I didn't have the skills to jump straight into saltwater, but finally the time has come to convert! I have a 70L tank (~18.5G), I know I don't have much room, but here's what I've done so far...
Not very exciting yet I know.. but my tank's only been running for a week and the rock only went in about 3 hours ago. I've already had fun watching a few critters come out of the rock.
Can someone tell me what this might be - a small starfish like critter with 5 striped tenticles? I've seen two of these and one came out and had a walk around on my rock. Pretty cool.
I think I got some good rock with some nice growth already on it.. well it had better be good rock considering how much it was!
Here's my equiptment list (sorry about the metric units) :
70L tank
Atman 3336 cannister filter (approx 550L/hr)
15Kg aragonite substrate
10.6 Kg LR
50W heater - intend to upgrade
Cheap lighting from my freshwater setup - also intend to upgrade
Small Lees protein skimmer (in the mail)
From what I've seen this forums has some great members - people who seem to be real experts. I look forward to talking with you guys and sharing my experiences with you. :bowing:
Cheers!
