Newbie Here!

Yes, on the ottos. Which is why I said to add them last ;) . Plus they will want a source of algae to start eating, not the easiest guys to get to take prepared foods.

I used spring water from a local New Hampshire area that is known for almost 99.9% letting the water from the spring go directly to you, no additives, which I would assume mean that there was no minerals taken out. I am going to keep any eye one this though.

It is obviously up to you, but there is really no way to test for the things in the water that might be missing. I just know that comes up on here occasionally, and people don't realize anything is wrong till they start having major problems. I don't know anything about the water you are talking about though, just giving you a heads up. good luck with your tank :D

Thanks for all of the imput people, its been a huge help.

So far everything looks alright. I'll be going to the LPS later on to purchase one of those test kits, and i'll begin the testing sometime tonight. The 2 fish I have already seem to have calmed down and are starting to enjoy the tank, the only question I have in my mind is why are the fish always looking like they want to get out (staying near the glass, going up and down it, ect.)

I'm from NH too :) . Lived in Concord/Bow/Penacook most of my life. Now I've been in NC for 4.5 years.

Probably just settling in, nothing to worry about :D

So far, so good!

Did my first ammonia test today, results came back at 0ppm. I finally figured out that the 2 fish I purchased are Glowlight Tetras. They both seem to be doing well, and are exploring the tank more now then before when they appeared they wanted out.

The water appears a little cloudy, which I've heard could be a few different reasons, but i'm guessing it is because it is a new tank, and the cycle is beginning. Not positive though.

I'll try to get a few pictures up here so you guys and gals can take a looksie!

Edit: By the way, does anyone have a good website with a bunch of smaller fish that would be good for a 10-gallon tank? I'd rather have 7-8 smaller fish than 1-2 big guys swimming around.
