Newbie needing help with supplements

No, i thought about it but the LFS told me there was no need when I was adding there live rock...... maybe i've been misled on this and alot of things from them......

Well if the live rock was uncured then there should have been some ammonia from the die off, but to me it seems like u might not have had enough ammonia to cycle the tank properly.

I would not add any more live stock to the tank. If what happened is what i think is happening then your ammonia is going to go up, most likely to unsafe levels for the things you have in the tank. Your fish might survive but the inverts and coral are usually pretty sensitive to changes in your water parameters. You r going to want to test your water everyday for ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites until you have acceptably readings. Idk if it would be better to take out all of your livestock (if this is possible) or not at this point.

It's not possible to take out my livestock. Nowhere to put them.

I have just done a test now on my water and hte parameters are as follows:

SG 1.024
Temp 26 degrees
PH 8.0
Nitrite 0.05 ppm
Nitrate <5mg/l
Calcium 450
Ammonia
Alkalinity HIGH

I'm starting to get worried about my stock now as I have spent quite alot of money on them.....

Will frequent water changes help in any way? I dont want to loose my stock at such an early stage

Are u getting an ammonia reading of 0?

I would use conditioners that keep toxins like nitrite and amonia less toxic. also, i would add live bio bacteria live or in a powder form for marine tanks. also, water changes every day if tests read other than zero in nitrites and ammonia. stop adding anything else. no buffers are needed when your alkalinity is high. you probably having a mini cycle and probably would be okay if you would step up with water changes, because with your readings 25% every two weeks is like almost none at all.
