I am not new to keeping fish, but I am new to the forum. I am having some trouble figuring out some of the abbreviations, and I would appreciate a translation!

Briggs (snails?)
MTS (Mystery snails?)
CPD

Agh, I know there was more, I guess I will just come back and post when I think of them.

Any other common terms that you can think of to post and translate would be appreciated, just anything off the top of your head :)

Thanks,
Kristina

LFS? (I am guessing live fish store?)

Mts is a type of snail (haven't figured out which yet) and it can also stand for 'multiple tank syndrome'. a 'disease' in which the 'sufferer' can't stop buying tanks. CPD = celestial pearl danio, one of the less common varieties of danio. I'm pretty sure briggs is an abbreviation (ironic that abbreviation is such a long word) and that it is another type of snail (again, not sure... don't follow snails much)
LFS= local fish store, that's why I love when people say LFS store.
WTF = wait a minute.... I can't say that.
alot of them ya just have to take context into accnt. I've seen DCF for dwarf crawfish, DCS for cherry shrimp, DPF for dwarf puffer, cuc or zuch for cucumber or zuchini, and many others I can't remember... there is a type of minnow that gets abbr. a lot... like GWMM or something... In almost every case, if you seen an abbr. that you don't understand, if you either ask in a post on that thread, or you PM the person that used it, they will tell you. Usu. w/o making fun of you too much.

MTS-Malaysian/Malayan trumpet snails
Brigs/Briggs/Mystery Snails-Pomacea diffusa, Pomacea bridgesii, Pomacea bridgesii effusa...They're still apple snails. All mystery snails are apple snails but not all apple snails are mystery snails. This will explain.

Ha ha, thanks. I have been active on herp and viv forums for a long time, so some of it I can puzzle out, and I use some abbreviations myself, but I am new to a lot of the less common inverts and plants. I live in in area where LFS is a bad word, apparently, because I have to drive at least 50 miles to get to one, and that ain't local, lol.

I can handle a little good natured rinning without getting too riled, so that isn't a problem :)

AND I have certainly said WTF AND WTMF a few times myself, lol!

ADF = African dwarf frog.

There sure are a lot of dwarf species in the aquarium trade.
