Just got my 45gallon pentagon tank with live rock and sand, setup and has been running for about two months and now looking to add some fish. Let me know what you think about my first choices of fish. Flame Angel, Coral Beauty, Green Mandarin Goby and havent decide yet but a butterfly of some sort. Any suggestions or precautions, Let me know.

Thanks

The mandarin can be pretty much be scratched out, as they usually do not eat any prepared or fresh food, only the pods which live on the live rock. They need a large and long established population of pods to keep them sustained, as they are constantly picking at the live rock eating pods.Obviously if those pods run out, chances are the mandarin will starve to death (unless it's one of the few that will take other foods). It is possible to keep one in your size tank, however, it would need to be at least a year old, have plenty of live rock and have a refugium to give the pods someplace to reproduce without the threat of being eaten. You also won't be able to keep any other fish which feed on pods, as the mandarin almost always gets out competed for food.

I'm not sure, but I think you may have problems with the two angels getting along.

Every butterfly fish that I know of gets to big for your aquarium.

So no angels really get along? Well I will take some recomendations on what kind of fish to get. I just want some fish that are vibrant in color and have several colors. Basicaly what are the prettiest fish that will fit in my tank and that can get along.

Check out the fairy wrasses. They are colorful, constantly swimming, and very peaceful. I wasn't a big fan of the wrasses until I won one in a drawing at my local aquarium club meeting. After I got my Lubbock's Wrasse, I was converted. I want more wrasses now. Just be careful because some wrasses (not fairy wrasses) can get very large. Some can also be very expensive (mystery wrasse ~ $250.00). You will not be disappointed with these fish.
