Newbie Question = small aquarium?

I brough aquarium ( 25 l ) with 13 fishes ( 2 gold fish , 6 tiger fish , 2 angel fish (small one ) and one silver fish )

now, I have pump (out side pump), and heater ...

and I do not have any experience about aquariums.
What I nothice after 2 week wather become dirty ( I think that I have overfeed the fishes) and before reading anthing on internet I change complete the water. After that I saw that in some New Tank Syndrome and should wait 30 days to finish this cicluse, but to late I think now should start from beggining.

My questions are:
1) The aquarium it's enough for this fish or should I buy new one (bigger one)
2) I plan for now one to give twice per day food but in very small quantity - this is correct?
3) Can someone recomend what is the best pump for the aquarium? ( please post the type of the pump or link will be perferc)
4) Every week I will replace 15 % water

If you have any suggsestion for me I would appriciate to see them.

btw, I am very happy that I have fount a forum for aquariums, good job ppl...

Well for one thing in my opinion you started out with too many fish. It will take a while for the tank to cycle(around 4-8 weeks). During that time you want to keep a small population of fish. Around maybe one third of what you currently have.

As for a filter, I have always liked power filters such as a Duetto:

Another thing that everyone goes through is overfeeding. Feed your fish only once every two or three days. It is very difficult to starve a fish to death. By far most aquarium owners have killed many more fish by giving too much food than not giving enough food. After a while you will learn with your own experience whether to feed more and how.

One other thing, if you are changing 15% why not 30%? Changing a little more water won't hurt, and can do nothing but good. Especially since you are starting off with so many fish.

Instead of getting rid of any of your fish, try larger water changes. Hopefully, you will be able to cycle your tank with no unneccesary deaths.

thank you for your replay...

Should I buy bigger aquarium? And what is the recommend size for this fishes what I have?

I do not like to giv back the fishes, and best solution is to buy bigger one, but what size??

thank you

Your tank is 25 liters? If so, that's pretty small for the fish you have. They won't all do well in that tank.
You would be better off with a bigger aquarium. You will be a lot happier with the hobby if you buy a bigger tank.

Now, for the fish you have... I don't know what the "silver" fish is, but I'll assume it's not going to get too big and say you could get by with about a 120 liter tank (30 gallons) Bigger is always better if you are willing to spend more money/have enough space to put it.

Angelfish get pretty big and tiger fish (tiger barbs?) like a lot of room to play.

Another problem is the goldfish, they get big and are very messy fish. They also like cooler water than your other fish. Maybe you could take the goldfish back to the store? Most people who keep goldfish don't mix them in with tropical species. You can keep them and see how it goes, but it would be easier to remove the goldfish.

Check out this website for some great info for beginners:

thank you for your advise,

My next step is to buy 30 galons aquarium.
What do you think in the existing aquarium I can leave only the gold fish and the rest of the fishes I can transfer to the new 30 Galon aquarium. It's good idea?

It would be a good idea to seperate the goldfish, but the 25 liter tank is going to be too small for them quickly, so if you are going to keep the goldfish, I'd recommend putting them in the bigger tank with your other fish.

When your angels and goldfish grow, even the 30 gallon is going to be cramped, but if you are careful with the water quality and do regular water changes and cleaning you could do it.

but the temperature in the aquarium it's approx. 27 - 28 C It's not to hot for gold fish ???

it is too hot. i would return the goldfish. if you take all the other (tropical) fish as a set you're keeping together in a 30g, that might work. the goldish in the 25l is way too small. they won't work with those other fish in a 30g anyway...the temp. needed for the other fish will be too high for them, and they generate a massive amount of waste anyway.

thank you,

they are more beutifful fishes in my aquarium, it's pitty to turn them back :C

another question :

I brought today Tetra PH/KH plus amd Tetra Nitrate minus.

tell me it's safe to use the in the aquarium? And when should I use them ? According the expanation NitrateMinus reduce nitrate for 12 months. For PH/KH plus I dont have idea for what they are becouse the explanation is writen in German., please help/

Any tips / hints for taking better care for my aquarium it's highly appriciated

Thank you in advance

Well, like I was saying before it would be better/easier on you to take the goldies back to the store. Maybe you could find someone with a pond to take them? That temp is pretty high for them... They'll live in it, but they wont thrive, and it will reduce their lifespan.

I wouldn't use those chemicals at all... Especially if you dont have a test kit to measure your kH and pH beforehand. What are your pH and kH now? I've never seen the Nitrateminus, but just doing water changes will lower your nitrates through removal/dillution. You dont need a chemical to do it.
