Ok... So my tank is setup and running, but I took the advice of my LFS and put some polyester filter pads in my back of tank sump... The floss is in the top compartment, not submerged, with water running over it... Then all of the other compartments are empty running to my rio 2500 powerhead back to the tank...there is probably 40 lbs. of base rock with only 12 lbs of cured live rock in the tank... My question is, what other filtration should I add... Should I just add the prawn in pantyhouse and let it go the way it is... Can I use the frozen krill I feed my bichirs instead of the prawn... Should I hook up my fluval 405... Please help, I am out of ideas...

the prawn should be enough. I cut up 3 seperate shrimps and put them in a mesh bag. my cycle is now over!! yay! it took about 2-2.5 weeks. the shrimp was a great source of ammonia. If you cut it up the decomposing will start sooner. (i had a 30g btw)

the floss isnt really a bad idea, as long as u clean it often u wont have to worry about nitrates to much, um a little more LR would be nice (what size tank) but as long as u dont fully stock ur tank in a month after u cycle you shouldnt have to worry, i would add the fluval just for added water flow and you could use it to run carbon or something of the sort, more water n flow is always better..uum as far as the frozen krill you could throw some in their yea but i would just stick with the prawn....hope this helps...remember paitence...just stick the shrimp in, watch ur parameters, and watch and empty tank with to much money into it lol

The tank is a 56.1 gallon as far as I can tell... The dimensions are 36 x 24 x 18 with sump or 15 without sump... I want more live rock, but @5.00 a lb I ran out of money till saturday... So do not use the frozen krill? Just go buy a raw shrimp, shell on or shell off. Does it matter... Also, my fluval has been running for about a month on my african tank... To switch it from the FW to SW, should I just toss the carbon and rinse the beads and floss under tap water and start over? Also, can you give me some insight as to where to run my fluval in my sump? I will try to describe how the back of tank sump is set up...On the top left corner there are two slots that allow a waterfall to drain into the first compartment... From there it fills up the first compartment then overflows into the second, where it flows into the 3rd, then returns via a powerhead... Where should I put the input hose of the fluval and where to return it...

I put the input of the fluval close to the bottom and I put the return close to the top for some surface agitation.

The fluval is not designed to be in a sump and should be ran seperately if you are running it.
