newborn convict fry

hey, just wanted to post that i woke up this morning and found that my convicts had fry i did not even know about. breeding these guys is new to me so i didnt even know what the eggs looked like. i thought it was just their waste but little did i know... i wake up in the morning and find these little guys swimming around! anyway ill try to post some pics up soon, but before i do, can anyone tell me the best way to take care of these guys? any help would be much appreciated

You can feed them babby brine. There is also a food out called First Bites. It comes in a plastic bag.
You can also crush some food up very small.

sorry it took a few days, but here are the new fry. what i've done so far is grind up flakes with my hands. the parents seem to be very protective and nurturing.

Ground up flakes should be fine. I have had better luck placing the free swimming fry in another tank, but I also had more than just the parents in the tank. I am not sure if the parents will want to snack on them after a while or not. I always pulled them out.

It is cool to watch them protect their eggs and fry.

As soon as they got to be about 1/2 inch, I would trade mine to the LFS for store credit. My first african cichlids were bought this way. I also gave lots of them away.

Congads on your breeding. Be careful doing water changes so you do not suck them out.

when would u guys say is the ideal size to take the parents out? im thinkin 1/2" like john says, but would that be the best time to stop having the parents nurture? i only have the two parent cons in there right now, so i dont have to worry about them being delicacy to others.

Still if they are in less than a 30 g... which i don't know cause i didn't read what your tank size was.. but still to continue... If they are in less than a thirty g.. I would still watch for them to start coming up missing... Parents are wierd sometimes.. And will devour their own.. Even though Cons are good parents it still happens maybe a 10-18 g set up is in the making ? for them..3 weeks cycle then you can pretty much get more to the lfs than less...

Not saying they will , but they can eat them... Just some rambling
