I picked up the mudskipper today. the LFS had 2 2" firebellied newts in with my mudskipper. I instantly thought that they might work well for tankmates. I talked with the employee and he said he could place them in the fish BOGO sale. I will give the thought 2 weeks to think it over and let the mudskipper adjust. I could just place them at room temp in the ten gallon, but why when an ideal set-up already exists? what do you think

relax, i have abandoned the idea. its just one of those things that cach your eye. the tank is now stocked. I plan to put an in tank power filter at the begining of the land are to make it look likethe water is flowing from land to water. this will create a small water fall effect, for looks and humidity. to give it a more natural look I will incase the box of the fiter in life bamboo so the waterfall also lookls like its comming out of the bamboo. I'll add another of these filters to the water section for strong filtration, and even better humidity, I'll also incase that in bamboo.

The biggest problem with a newt x mudskippy tank is Newts are FW and Mudskippies are brackish. The brackish water with dehydrate the Newt and eventually kill it (probably sooner rather than later). I have a LFS that also has this combined set up but they are in freshwater. It is good you abandoned the idea, the above is just fyi! Hope this helps and good luck with the new Skippies!
