OK.....so maybe he won't make it through.

Well now I have a nice looking SW FOWLR and no FO. I suppose I'll let the water settle just a bit more and try again now that the cycle is close to complete.

It seems odd that the last two damsels to go were so close to the end of the cycle.
 
On an equipment related note. I'm looking into buying a few things.

1) Remora Protein Skimmer
On Marine Depot Live it lists the following info as a $16 charge.

Upgrade Remora to include Drain Fitting

What exactly does this mean?

2) 200W heater, I'm thinking titanium... any comments would be appreciated.

3) I need to be able to run automated for my travel, ie. auto feeder and lights.
I know the feeders are pretty common.
Can I get a surge strip or something to control my lighting? I currently have strip lights.

Some skimmers can be fitted to drain into a bucket. The normal operation results in the accumulation of gunk in a small cup--the drain fittings allow this to flow into a bucket, instead of overflowing the cup.

I like the Pro-HeatII titanium heaters--precise, and amazingly stable.

Timers for lights are a good thing. I like the heavy duty ones--they are rated for use outdoors, so handle the humidity issue better than some of the indoors-rated ones. Two timers can be used, so lights can come on at different times--for example, have actinics on for an hour, then the MH come one, reverse for going off. I will not set up a tank without timers for the lights.

Ok a bunch of questions now.

1) checked out the PRO HEAT II, I like it, can I get the 350w for when i eventually upgrade or will it be too difficult to control in a 55g tank.

2) PH, the bottom continually falls out of my Ph. I take it back to 8.2 with Sea Buffer and after a few days its back to 7.6. Any reason for this?

3) Bugs, my live rock is now the most exciting thing in my tank, there are these little bugs crawling on it, the biggest are 2-3mm and the smallest are less than 1mm. I really hope this is a good thing.

I've never bought the timers from a fish store--I pick mine up at Home Depot.

We used the 350W heater on a 55 hospital tank recently. There was only about 40 gallons of water in the tank, and it kept it rock solid at 76. I seldom recommend using a much higher wattage heater than needed, but I've been very impressed with these, so don't think it would be a problem.

Chemically, I'm not much help. I would guess that there is something in your tank pulling the buffer down--could be due to the cycle, since acids are high during these processes. I wouldn't worry about it too much until the tank has cycled. Keeping it stable, if low, is better than constantly yo-yoing it.
