Nice, I got my Flourish Excel

well u might not be able to ovrdose then. if ur using excel to help algae control i would spot treat the plant, i use the plastic injectors tht come with baby meds(looks like a needle but has a plastic tip) and just squirt a lil onto the trouble area. if ur lookin for growth use the diy or pressurized methods.

also to help fight the algae kep up the scraping, nothing beats good ol fashion elbow grease

My tank was cloudy this morning.. no sign of algae death (maybe the cloudyness? :D)

One of my Mollies passed during the night.. I'm not sure it was related to the Excel. It was a sickly, bent up, hunchedback inbred fish that had trouble staying afloat when I bought it.. I never expected it to live as long as it did.

Yep, anacharis and val don't like Excel. If the val melts, I have heard it may grow back and be able to tolerate the Excel. It may vary by species. Mosses also don't like Excel if you overdose considerably, but it will take a pretty good overdose to kill it. All plants should be fine with regular injected CO2.

Well, my Vals grow pretty quickly. I didn't realize it until I compared some old pictures. I thinned it to about 10 small leaves when the algea first showed up, now an entire corner of the tank has leaves reaching the top of the tank. If I lose all but one plant with one small leaf, I'll have as much Val as I want within two weeks, heh.

Don't have any Anachross at the moment.

Should I throw in some more plants right now? Even with the Algae problems? Or should I wait a few days? Like i mentioned, I hadn't realized how quickly my plants were growing (even before the Excel).. I wonder if I just need some more to starve out the algae

this is my tank now with the 'sword' and the white and green plant removed.

I'd like to pick up a sword and maybe some plant that will add ground cover..

It's a 55.. I'm custom making a new lighting system so they're going without light today, I hope that doesn't cause any harm to my plants.

The Algae is still growing, especially on my Val.. the Algae that turned red isn't red anymore, it's not a nasty green just like the rest.

I think when I finish my lighting I'm going to prune all the plants and get as much visible algae as I can out of the tank, I'll see what the new lighting, better CO2, Excel and a heavy pruning does for it.

I am thinking about switching one tank from excel to pressurized co2 since one of my main plants will be jungle val. I do standard dosing for the water change amnount and 1.5X daily dosing or 2X dosing if I do it every other day. The vals are completely gone after about 2-3 months. I havent heard that about java moss either, maybe thats why it has suffered.
