I used some sort of blue lighting I got off of ebay, although it broke down pretty quickly. DIY seems like the best option IMO.

Walmart blue LED xmas lights. One String of 60 for $4. Its not as bright as it looks in that pic. (long camera exposure)

red is good for use since as stated above it dialtes your eyes the least. ihave the current fixture as well with four white LED's and i can see as much as i think i should at night for a night efect. i might thro a couple blues in as well in a custom fixture just mix up the lights a bit.
