Nightcrawlers for food?

a nightcrawler is a huge type of earthworm, described very well in the above post. They are sold as bait and they are generally more than thre inches long and have quite a thick girth in compairson to other earthworms.

Here in the Southern US we refer to huge earthworms as "nightcrawlers".

thanks for the info from the North, Its good to learn all of the different uses for the same word, I had to learn a lot of different things when I moved from NY to NC.
I feed my cichlids earthworms, nightcrawlers(what we Americans call that big huge worm found crawling on the ground at night after a good rain.) Mealworms and Superworms ..which are a huge mealworm, and crickets. I buy the mentioned foods at www.wormman.com
I gut load them by feeding left overs from dinner. Mostly vegggies, potatoes and pastas.
