altought from different contenents would acaras and Nimbochromis livingstonii go alright togeater in nuteral water? im not sure but they should be alright right?
Well, I know they can adjust to surtain levels, but 7 seems to me a bit low as they're used to 7.9 up till 8.4
I guess he will survive fore sometime, I'm not sure if he does on long terms.
I hope you know it's a piscivore and can grow up to 11 inches.
So be careful with smaller fish in your tank.
I wouldn't do it. Nimbochromis spp. would eat the acaras if there's ever enough size differential, and, as Jimmy said, there's too much difference in the necessary pHs. Neutral pH is almost 10 times as acidic as the Livingstonii is built to handle.
Depending on where your acaras are from, you could go in between, like around 7.9. I still go with the above opinions though, and do not recommend it. Livingstoniis are great though, and I recommend setting up a Malawi tank so you can have some. Mine has a mouth like you wouldn't believe.
yeah i thourght so with the water differences but the acaras are much larger then the livingstonii the acaras are about 6cm and the livingstonii about 2-3cm a bit of a difference but they would still grow very fast if im not mistaken.oh well ill have to try some other nice fish any suggestions???
By Peacock Cichlid, do you mean one of the Cichla spp., which are called Peacock Basses over here? Or do you mean the Oscar, which I have also heard called by that name?
Why not consider green terrors, they might be able to survive the 7.9 and get to a comperable size and can protect themselves and look very similar to the acaras.
Course I have a biased opinion.
I would like to have a peacock cichlid community, I especially like the blue faced variety. I have to wait to get another tank though.
