About 6 months ago when I set my tank up I added a plecto algee eater. Never saw him again after the first day. I assumed he was dead. Today I walked by the tank and saw him hanging out on a rock and he was 12 inches long. How could he live so long undetected? He has ninja skills.

surely you would have seen him when you carried out maintenance on the tank? plus as far as im aware arent plecs mainly nocturnal? so you may not have seen him due to him always being out and about after lights out.

I guess because i dont remove the 600lnb of rock when I clean it I never saw him.

Don't mean to be rude, but how do you lose an 8inch fish.

he was 8 inches when i put him in.....he is 12 inches now. I guess because I dont remove the rock when a do water changes.
the tank is full of rock.

i would guess your pleco (not plecto) is probably not too happy in water with that high a pH. most like fairly soft water.
