Checked my nitrate today. The color was through the roof and I'm talking blood red > 160ppm. So I freaked. I checked the tap water and it was still really high at about 80ppm.
Now this test kit, an AP, was on it's last dribble so I looked on the package for a sell by date but couldn't find one. Luckily I just bought another kit on Sunday and retested the water. Tap was zero, tank was 10-15ppm. Phew.
This is strange because last week my tank tested alright. Do test kits deteriorate this fast, especially when it's almost empty? There was enough for about another 2 tests left.
