Just did a water test, 1 week ago my Nitrate (NO 3)ppm (mg/L) was in the safe range at 0. Now it is at 20, still in the safe range on my Mardel 5 in 1 test kit. The other nitrate (NO 2) is showing 0, when i look at the dip stick the test strip is still white indicating 0. Are these ok, I just did a 25% water change yesterday.

Nitrate(no3) should be between 5-20, nitrite(no2) should always be at 0 if ur tank is cycled. should really think about investing in API master test kit, its more accurate then dip sticks and only cost 13.00 bucks if u do the print out and take it to petsmart.

i believe my tank is still trying to cycle, it has been cloudy for about 3 weeks now, i set it up last week of december but i didnt know until now, that i should not have added all the fish at once. I hope the water will begin to clear up, i am using a power whisper 60 filter on it

What is your ammonia reading?

the stupid mardel 5 in 1 test strip does not have an ammonia reader, going to get one once im done hear, But i do have an ammonia reader in the tank and it is saying safe,

well reading through ur other post u never posted ur ammonia levels. when cycling u have to first test for ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite. get a better test kit, and read up on how to cycle a tank. doing a search for cycle on the forum should come up with good stuff. when u get the new test kit, one of the better ones for the price is the API master test kit, post ur full readings ammonia, nitrite, nitrate.
