I am going to try the heat and salt treatment on my 55 gallon tank tonight for a bad case of ich but I was hoping to move my mystery snails into my QT tank but when I was just about to do it I noticed that my spare heater isn't working. Do I have to have a heater just to keep the snails in the QT tank for about a week?

Also, I just took about 18 gallons out of my 55 gallon and moved it to the QT tank but I was wondering if my snails would starve to death? I can put a couple of algae wafers in the bottom for them but I didn't know if the tank would put them belly up because this is the first time it has had water in it for about 3 months.

Thanks.

What is the ambient temp of your house? As long as their temps are in the 70's its likely they will be fine.

A bigger concern is that the tank is not cycled. Do frequent testing and wc's while they are in the qt tank. Also, be sure to feed them a good diet of either fresh veggies or wafers in the mean time...veggies being better (like green beans, zucchini, etc) as they contain calcium important for shell health.

Also, can I use just normal Iodized Salt for the Ich treatment. The container reads: saly, calcium silicate, dextrose and potassium iodide?
