I think the subject is inherently political, so I disagree about the "hijack" posts, and I did not intend for this to become a political free for all either, I merely retaliated once the cranks came out of the woodwork. Then again I'm all about stating my opinion... as is obvious here.
Opinions are a good thing mb. Be thankful you are allowed them, in some places statements like the ones in the above posts could get us arrested and imprisoned.
IN ANY EVENT, there is probably nothing the governor of VT can do about the rapist. Once they made their deal in court the state is bound by it. You wonder if the feds can do anything (or maybe if the state had the judge declared incompetent they could void his decision). Hopefully they have some kind of sexual offender registry in effect. This criminal just got the wrong message about what a serious crime he committed, and he should have a very close eye kept on him for the forseeable future.
Even if the judge was declared incompetent it is unlikely that criminal intent could be proven, so at worst he is only likely to lose his position.
Unfortunate but true.
